Date Night: REDD
An upscale menu with downtown vibes from a Michelin chef...in Rochester!
Welcome to Date Night, a glimpse into where we go when we have a rare night to ourselves. We don’t get out as often as we used to, so when we do find time for a proper date, we need to make it count.
REDD Rochester
REDD is the upscale new American venture from Michelin-star chef and Rochester-native Richard Reddington. Since opening in 2019, it has skyrocketed to the top of the Rochester restaurant scene, even earning national recognition as one of 2024’s ‘Restaurants of the Year’ according to USA Today. The open design, long, bustling bar and sleek mid-century lines are warmed up by earth tones, sumptuous leather, expansive murals depicting the Finger Lakes, and lighting and acoustics that set the perfect mood while still allowing you to actually see the menu and hear your dinner companions.
On the menu you’ll find upscale wood fired pizzas, seasonally rotating dishes, and mainstays like Thai chili wings and a glazed pork belly starter that is not to be missed. To drink, there’s an extensive wine list - with a heavy focus on California, which is no surprise, given Reddington earned 7 Michelin stars at his Napa Valley restaurant - and a healthy mix of classic and contemporary cocktails, including a zero-proof list that’s more than just soda or a phony Negroni (thank you). We love to hang at the bar for drinks, apps and a pizza or two to share, and this is undoubtedly one of the best bars in town for that, but on date night we’ll sit at a table to get the full romantic yet lively experience.

You can never go wrong with a night out at REDD, whether you’re bellying up to the bar or sitting for a full meal. And don’t miss Reddington’s newest addition, Redd Wood, which opened this past month (March 2025)!
